Extra Traction on Wheelchair Ramps, Lifts, Steps, Trim, and More
Entering and exiting transportation vehicles can be dangerous, especially when carrying luggage or children. Our covers exceed OSHA and ADA guidelines to give you the best traction and outlast other temporary anti-slip solutions.
Step Covers
3” Safeguard Hi-Traction® Step Covers are used when the rubber on the leading edge is worn, cracked, or missing, but the tread is in good condition. The white portion can be removed and replaced with a 3” deep Safeguard® Step Cover.
Full Tread Step Covers are used when the entire rubber step is worn, slippery, or in need of a “facelift.” In keeping with School Bus Standards, the first 3” of the Step Cover is white, while the remaining depth (up to 15”) can be configured in a contrasting darker color such as black or blue.
Coefficient of Friction
Safeguard Technology’s unique surface nearly doubles both OSHA’s 0.5 and ADA’s 0.6 guidelines for Coefficient of Friction values, as confirmed in independent lab testing using the Mark II Model of the Brungraber slip tester. Even in wet or oily conditions, these guidelines are greatly exceeded.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleanup is a snap using a non-solvent cleaner and a stiff bristle brush. Please refer to the installation and cleaning guide for complete instructions.
Wheelchair Ramps & Lifts
Safeguard Vinyl (Flexible PVC) with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive is the ideal solution for eliminating slippery conditions on wheelchair ramps and lifts. The high-quality adhesive laminate provides an easy, one-step “peel-and-stick” installation that will provide anti-slip protection for years of service.
Color Standards
White is the standard for the leading step edges on school buses. When covering more than the initial 3” area, combining white with a contrasting color creates an attractive solution that helps hide dirt and wear from foot traffic. Safeguard HiGlo-Traction® offers the standard white during the day with the added benefit of photoluminescent “glow-in-the-dark” performance when dark. Once charged by natural or fluorescent light, these covers emit a visible glow for many hours, improving safety during early morning and evening use.
Installation
Installation is easily achieved using mechanical fasteners, adhesive, or a combination of both. Vinyl Walkway Covers are available with PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive).
