Construction options

Walkway Covers are sized to meet your specifications with Width (A) and Length (B) made to order.

Measure your work area or walkway and make note of where any non-movable elements are located. Covers can be configured in multiple pieces for large areas, or in a heel-toe pattern to create a designated safe walking path. We will help to develop the most cost-effective strategy for your application.

Weld Tab walkway covers are only offered in the Super Coarse (Xtreme) and Extra Coarse (Offshore) grit sizes.

Two-Tone Color Configurations Add Visibility

A contrasting color on the perimeter of a Walkway Cover designates a change in surface texture or signifies a safe walking zone. The contrast provides good definition and clear visibility for added awareness.

Warning messages, text, and logo graphics can be embedded into Safeguard® Walkway Covers to last for the life of the product. We can even match your color.

Combined with a Photoluminescent “Glow-in-the-Dark” background, the message is visible after dark and during power outages to provide safe egress/ingress during emergency evacuations.

Install utilizing Universal Saddle Clip Assemblies with Slotted Truss Head Bolts, Nuts and Lock Washers (All Stainless Steel)

The number of Saddle Clip Assemblies is directly influenced by the condition of the grating to be covered. New and good condition grating may not require as many Saddle Clip Assemblies. Good condition is considered flat/level and non-corroded. Contact Safeguard to discuss your application.

Install using screws and masonry fasteners. Adhesive can be used in lieu of or in conjunction with mechanical fasteners.

Install using 1 1/2 in standard type screws. Adhesive can be used in lieu of or in conjunction with mechanical fasteners.

Safeguard recommends placing mechanical fasteners 1 in x 1 in in each corner of your Anti-Slip Cover with spacing 10 in to 14 in between each fastener.
ATTENTION:
Reduce the speed of your pneumatic air tools to prevent thread galling and bolt snapping while installing saddle clips.
We recommend using a Torx screwdriver when installing to avoid head stripping.
The use of a thread lubricant is also recommended to reduce heat and assist in a smooth installation of this product.

Walkway Cover Installation Using Adhesive

Minimum adhesive usage shown. Depending on condition of substrate more can be applied, or troweled.

When using liquid adhesive, please refer to detailed installation and surface preparation instructions. Follow the pattern shown for maximum adhesion when installing over diamond plate, concrete, and wood.

Peel and release liner backing, then press firmly into place.

Weld Tab Covers

These heavy-duty Walkway Covers are manufactured from 1/8 in Pultruded FRP Fiberglass and utilize 4 in x 4 in 316 stainless steel metal tabs attached around the edge of the Cover.

Weld Tab Covers are designed to allow tack-welding directly to the metal/steel substrate. The Covers are not recommended to be welded to one-another.
